The formula
Tip amount = bill × (tip percentage ÷ 100). Total = bill + tip amount. Per person = total ÷ number of people.
Worked example
A ₹1,200 bill with an 15% tip, split between 2 people: tip = 1,200 × 0.15 = ₹180. Total = 1,200 + 180 = ₹1,380. Per person = 1,380 ÷ 2 = ₹690.
How much should you tip?
